The Queen of Spice, a kitchen restaurant in Acton, was inspired by the friendships made at Lamia’s dinner table.
Growing up in Morocco, she learned to cook from her grandmother, perfecting the mix of spices that are the signature of many Moroccan dishes. By the time she was a teenager, Lamia, the oldest of six children, was doing most of the cooking for the family. She delighted in mastering complicated dishes that were traditionally served only on special occasions.
Today, Lamia has an extraordinary repertoire of dishes, but they all have one thing in common. “Spice is the secret to any amazing meal. For instance, you can play with the same vegetable dish and make it completely different each time by simply adding a different spice.”
